Investors: InsuranceDekho and RenewBuy have merged to create India's largest AI-enabled insurance distribution platform

InsuranceDekho and RenewBuy have completed their merger. The combined entity will operate under the InsuranceDekho brand, creating what the companies claim is India's largest AI-enabled insurance distribution platform by premium generated through point-of-sale persons (POSPs) in FY26.

InsuranceDekho founder and CEO Ankit Agrawal will lead the merged company. The founders of both businesses, including RenewBuy CEO Balachander Sekhar, will continue with the organisation.

Complementary Strengths and Pan-India Reach

The merger brings together InsuranceDekho's strong presence in northern and western India with RenewBuy's established network in southern India. Ankit Agrawal stated that the consolidation combines complementary strengths. He said RenewBuy brings strong on-ground relationships, a well-established advisor network across southern India, its technology stack, and its insurer relationships.

Together, we can build a single pan-India platform, Agrawal told Inc42. The immediate focus is on disciplined execution and ensuring a seamless integration.

Scale of the Combined Entity

The merged entity claims a significant scale across several key metrics. According to figures provided by Agrawal, the platform now serves more than 2 crore customers and has facilitated a premium book exceeding ₹6,600 Cr. It offers more than 750 insurance products across motor, health, life, travel, commercial, and corporate insurance through partnerships with 52 insurers.

Integration Priorities and Leadership

Agrawal outlined three key elements that need integration: the two advisor networks, the two technology stacks, and the two sets of insurer relationships. He stated the priority is to bring these together without disrupting the experience for partners and customers.

Regarding leadership, Agrawal said the decision for both founding teams to continue was deliberate. He explained they wanted continuity in leadership and execution, rather than a transition that would disrupt what is already working. Balachander Sekhar and RenewBuy's other founders will continue to lead the strengths they built, particularly around the advisor network and relationships. Decision-making will remain collaborative.

Competitive Landscape and Growth Outlook

The companies are positioning the combined business to compete with players like Policybazaar, Turtlemint, and Acko. Agrawal addressed the trend of insurers strengthening their own direct channels. He argued that what gets a family covered is trust carried by an advisor, not just an app. This belief is now backed by a combined network of over 6 Lakh digital partners.

Agrawal sees growth opportunities across motor, health, life, and commercial insurance segments. He stated the larger opportunity lies in bringing these categories together on a single platform. The same trusted advisor who has sold motor insurance to a family for years can also help it access health and life insurance, Agrawal said. He believes the ability to cross-sell across categories at this new scale is what the merger unlocks.
