ADIA Sells Lenskart Stake Worth ₹2,390 Crore
Abu Dhabi Investment Authority sold 3.5 crore Lenskart shares at ₹683.02 each, reducing its stake by roughly 20%.

The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) has sold a significant portion of its stake in eyewear retailer Lenskart. The sovereign wealth fund offloaded 3.5 crore shares in a bulk deal, raising ₹2,390.6 crore.
ADIA executed the sale through its holding entity, Platinum Jasmine A 2018 Trust. The shares were sold at ₹683.02 apiece, a figure slightly above the stock's closing price for the day. This transaction marks the second major stake sale by ADIA in recent months.
Stake Reduction and Previous Sale
Earlier in June, ADIA sold an even larger block of 4 crore Lenskart shares. That deal was executed at ₹490 per share, valuing the transaction at ₹1,960 crore. The latest sale price represents a nearly 40% premium to the price achieved just a few months prior.
As of June 30, 2026, ADIA's trust held 16.98 crore shares, equivalent to a 9.77% stake in Lenskart. The sale of 3.5 crore shares therefore represents a reduction of slightly over 20% in ADIA's holding. For Lenskart's total equity, the sale amounts to roughly a 2% stake.
Lenskart's Bullish Run and Investor Exits
Lenskart's shares have experienced a significant rally, creating what the source describes as a "fertile ground" for early investors to realize gains. The stock has surged 51.3% on a year-to-date basis. This upward trend has attracted multiple institutional sellers.
Investors including SoftBank, Temasek, and Alpha Wave have offloaded stakes in the company over the past few months. More recently, on September 1, financial giants BNP Paribas, Societe Generale, and US-based hedge fund Millennium Management collectively sold shares worth ₹2,670.2 crore through multiple bulk deals.
The stock reached an all-time high of ₹725 on September 18. Lenskart made its public market debut on the BSE in November 2025, with shares listing at ₹390 each.
Strong Financials Driving Optimism
The bullish sentiment is supported by Lenskart's robust financial performance. Following the company's strong results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, several brokerages issued positive notes and raised their target prices for the stock.
| Brokerage | New Target Price (₹) | Previous Target Price (₹) |
|---|---|---|
| Jefferies | 680 | 600 |
| Macquarie | 675 | 625 |
The optimism stems from a dramatic year-on-year increase in profit. Lenskart's consolidated net profit jumped 273% to ₹228.4 crore in Q1 FY27, up from ₹61.2 crore in the same quarter the previous year. The company's operating revenue also saw substantial growth, rising 43% year-on-year and 8% quarter-on-quarter to ₹2,714.2 crore.
Despite the positive backdrop, Lenskart's shares closed the trading session following ADIA's sale 3.3% lower at ₹683.85 on the National Stock Exchange.
