Gnani.ai Launches Sovereign AI Stack Artha

Voice AI startup Gnani.ai has unveiled Artha, an end-to-end sovereign AI stack. The platform was launched by India's Vice President CP Radhakrishnan in New Delhi today, aiming to help Indian enterprises and public institutions deploy AI while retaining control over sensitive data and the underlying technology.

Artha integrates two of Gnani.ai's core offerings: the Evon v3.3 large language model and the Plexus agentic AI platform. According to the company, this integrated stack addresses three key challenges for Indian organisations: data sovereignty, the cost of deploying AI at scale, and effective operation across Indian languages and real-world use cases.

The Evon v3.3 Model

Evon v3.3 is Gnani.ai's first large language model launch, cofounder and CEO Ganesh Gopalan told Inc42. It is a 30 Bn-parameter open weight model trained natively across 11 Indian languages. The model has been trained on 2 Tn tokens, with a focus on reasoning and Indic-language performance.

The model's weights are available upon request on the AI model repository Hugging Face under an Apache 2.0 licence. Gopalan stated that Evon v3.3 consumes around 40% fewer tokens for Indian-language workloads than comparable models, which helps lower compute costs. The startup plans to expand the model family with 70 Bn- and 100 Bn-parameter versions and increase language coverage from 11 to 22 languages.

Deployment and Use Cases

Gnani.ai has begun showing the model to select customers. Five of the 20 enterprises that attended a recent customer meeting in Pune have already expressed interest and started building on top of Evon. Potential use cases include underwriting, advertising, and payments reconciliation, though these engagements are currently at an early stage and no deployments have gone live yet.

For regulated use cases like underwriting and payments reconciliation, Gopalan said workflows will initially retain humans in the loop. He expects more routine tasks, such as document and data matching during loan onboarding, to become increasingly autonomous over time.

Business Context and Funding

The launch aligns with the Indian government's push for indigenous foundational models. Gnani.ai was among the startups selected under the IndiaAI Mission in 2025 to develop homegrown foundational AI models, specifically a multilingual, real-time voice AI model with reasoning capabilities.

Founded in 2017 by Gopalan and Ananth Nagaraj, the Bengaluru-based startup offers voice AI products for enterprises, including virtual assistants and voice biometrics. It serves sectors like banking, insurance, healthcare, telecom, and government services. The company expects Evon and Plexus to contribute 20-30% of its business within the next year.

Earlier this year, Gnani.ai raised $10 Mn in a Series B round led by Aavishkaar Capital, with participation from existing investor Info Edge Ventures. The capital is intended for international expansion, strengthening agentic AI capabilities, and developing multilingual products.
