Ola Electric has opened its first dealer-operated stores across seven Indian states. The electric two-wheeler maker is targeting a network of more than 500 dealerships over the next two quarters, according to a report.

This rollout, which began on August 6, marks a major shift from the company's previous fully company-owned retail model. The first dealer-led outlets are now live in Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Bihar, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.

A New Distribution Strategy

Under the new model, dealer partners will handle local sales and service for Ola's electric scooters and motorcycles. The company's existing company-owned stores will transition into product experience centres focused on showcasing products and building the brand.

The partner-led model is expected to allow Ola Electric to expand its presence across cities and towns without bearing the full cost of setting up and operating its own stores. The company stated it had received more than 1,200 expressions of interest from prospective dealer partners.

Addressing Service Challenges

The dealership push is also aimed at tackling Ola Electric's long-standing after-sales service issues. The company has faced sustained customer complaints related to delayed repairs, inadequate spare parts, and service centre capacity.

Under the dealer-led model, partners will handle both sales and service and maintain Ola Electric's spare-parts inventory locally. While announcing its Q4 FY26 financials, the company said service was the largest constraint on demand and brand trust through the fiscal year. However, it claimed improvements, stating that average service turnaround time fell from around nine days in October 2025 to nearly one day in March 2026.

The company also reported that service backlog declined from 14 days to six days, while same-day closures reached about 87%.

Market Context and New Models

The strategic shift comes as Ola Electric seeks to regain ground in India's competitive electric two-wheeler market. The OEM commanded a 7.6% market share in E2W registrations in August, according to the source.

To penetrate the mass market segment further, Ola Electric recently launched the new S1Z range. The scooters are offered with different battery options and claimed ranges, as detailed in the table below.

Battery OptionClaimed Range
3.1 kWhUp to 179 km
III 5.1 kWhUp to 301 km

The S1Z range starts at a price of ₹79,999. Beyond being a new model, the S1Z is also the company's first scooter to use its indigenously developed Bharat Cell LFP battery technology.

The company stated that the new dealer network would help take its products deeper into regional markets.
