Investors: A record 18 Indian startups raised ₹41,248 Cr via IPOs in 2025

Indian startups raised a record ₹41,248 Cr from public markets in 2025, with 18 new-age tech companies listing. The surge was fuelled by macroeconomic tailwinds and regulatory support from SEBI, alongside a retail investor boom as demat accounts crossed 20 Cr.

According to a report by Inc42, SEBI's reforms were key. Simplified DRHP filings cut red tape. More flexible ESOP rules helped founders retain ownership. The OFS component dominated, providing liquidity to early backers.

Post-listing performance followed a familiar curve. Investors rewarded companies focusing on profits, sustainable growth, and governance. "Besides the readiness that startups showed in their unit economics, there is also an increase in the founders committing to their businesses for next couple of decades and grow their businesses by adding adjacent profit pools - something that the public markets reward handsomely," said Ashish Kumar, cofounder and general partner at Fundamentum Partnership.

The 2026 IPO Landscape

The pipeline remains strong for 2026. Thirty two startups have already filed their DRHPs with SEBI. Over 24 more are finalising IPO plans. Unicorns like OYO, Razorpay and Zetwerk could collectively raise over ₹34,000 Cr this year.

Ten new-age tech companies have already debuted this year. Klassroom, SEDEMAC, Kissht, LEAP India and Shiprocket made bumper listings.

Yet a recalibration is likely. Investors will prioritise strong fundamentals, profitability and low cash burn. "IPO-bound startups in 2026 will be increasingly defined by their ability to demonstrate predictable cash flows, sustainable unit economics, and operational discipline rather than headline growth alone," Orios Venture Partners’ managing partner Rehan Yar Khan told Inc42. He added that public markets will emphasise governance and capital efficiency.

Challenges and Outlook

Headwinds exist. Average retail subscription levels are moderating. Foreign institutional investors are pulling back amid geopolitical tensions and a muted secondary market. The conflict in West Asia has further complicated the situation.

Despite this, the overall outlook is bullish. Maturing business models, deeper domestic capital pools, and an evolving regulatory framework position India as a leading startup IPO hub.

Recent Developments and Key Companies

Recent updates show continued activity. Data centre company ESDS Software Solution’s IPO was subscribed 2.1X on its first day. Purple Style Labs, parent to Pernia’s Pop Up Shop, raised nearly ₹306 Cr from anchor investors ahead of its August 31 IPO bidding. Consumer appliances startup Atomberg has filed its DRHP for an IPO comprising a fresh issue worth ₹450 Cr and an OFS of up to 7.65 Cr shares.

A list of companies eyeing a Dalal Street debut, compiled by Inc42 from DRHPs, MCA filings and media reports, includes several prominent names. The data is presented in alphabetical order, with reported numbers marked by an asterisk.
